As the (chalk) dust settles on a busy summer programme, the committee and coaching team at IGC can take moment, and a well deserved pat on the back following the delivery of the largest and arguably most successful programme of holiday classes to date.
Following a development camp in Inverclyde way back at the start of the school holidays, IGC shut up shop for one week before embarking on an ambitious schedule of classes across the remaining five weeks of the school holidays.
Our coaches delivered a staggering 50 sessions catering for all ages, from our increasingly popular BabyGym classes, through our recreational and beginner programme, up to our club development sessions and week long club camp.
Our open classes were in high demand, with our new online booking system allowing a more effective management of spaces. Both our P1-3 and our P4+ sessions ran close to, or at capacity at every class, and it was fantastic to see so many kids learning new skills, making new friends and remaining active across their summer break.
For our club gymnasts, a number of gymnasts relished in the opportunity to train upwards of 12-18 hours per week, and the list of new skills for both the gymnasts and the club, is almost too long to mention.
As a club, we recognise the need facility active lifestyles for young people of all ages and abilities, and are proud to have delivered over 2,400 "active child hours" during the school break. Plans are already underway to ensure that we can provide a substantial offering of classes and camps throughout the October break.
All information on our programme of holiday sessions will be published on our website and on our Facebook page.
